Michelle Burke

Dr. Michelle Burke has served as Public Health Director since 2020, leading the county's response to COVID-19 and ongoing public health initiatives. She oversees a department of 180 staff providing disease prevention, maternal and child health, environmental health, and behavioral health services. Dr. Burke holds an M.D. from UC San Diego and an M.P.H. from Harvard. She previously served as deputy health officer in San Mateo County. Her priorities include mental health access, substance abuse prevention, and health equity.
